As a business owner or as a sales manager, it is very important to be able to train new outside sales reps. You don’t want to just throw them into things to test if they will sink or swim so here are a few suggestions to help coach outside sales reps…
- You need to show them the ropes since book learning only goes so far
- Teaching someone helps you retain info the best as well
- Selling is a skill that needs practiced
- Look for reps are coachable
- Take them to see a variety of accounts & situations
- Prep them before going on the road together
- Promote your new reps to customers as you introduce them
- Don’t forget to monitor veteran reps
- Give consistent and constructive feedback
